The Swedish Association for Distance Education (SADE) is a member in the European Distance E-learning Network, EDEN to share experiences and collaborate with other distance educators, primarily in the EU, but also globally. It is about new research, strengthened networks and project-creating activities in the area of open, online, flexible education and distance learning (ODL) supported by the EDEN network.
Representant in EDEN from Sweden is Ebba Ossiannilsson SADEss Vice President . She was elected to EDEN Executive Committee at the Annual Conference in Barcelona, Spain in 2015.
EDEN aims to share knowledge and improve understanding among professionals in open, online, flexible education and distance learning (ODL) and to promote policy and practice across Europe and globally. EDEN is the smart network for the professional community and a professional society for smart learning.
With more than 180 institutional members and over 1100 members in Network of Academics and Professionals (NAP).EDEN supports and facilitates a wide range of institutions, networks and individuals to engage in professional information and networking activities. They do this by organizing recognized Europeans conferences, publicationers and information services, and by taking an active role in a wide range of important EU-projects. EDEN has also proved successful with thematic activities such as Open Classroom Working Group (distance education at school level) and by contributing to and promoting “groundbreaking” research in the sector. In addition, EDEN has also provided extensive secretarial support to its Journal European Journal of Open, Distance and E-Learning (EURODL).
The annual EDEN conference was organized by Jönköping University and was held in Jönköping, Sweden 13 -16 June 2017. SADE was a co-organizer and also organized a pre-conference the day before, which gathered around 80 delegates, both from Sweden and internationally. During the day, a number of interesting presentations are given, among others Anders Söderholm from UKÄ was keynote speaker. Read more about the conference on the EDEN website här
